Discuss and take appropriate action on support for submitting a grant application for State mental health crisis redesign funding.

Background

The 80th Texas Legislature appropriated $82,000,000 to fund crisis redesign for mental health for the FY 2008-2009 biennium. Of the allocated funding, approximately $24,000,000 will be available for special projects. The Willaimson County Mental Health Committee has investigated gaps in mental health services in Williamson County and has identified the need for crisis respite services. A project is being proposed for a community stakeholder partnership which would include Bluebonnet Trails MHMR, local community hospitals, Williamson County and possible other in-kind participants. If awarded the project, the State would fund 75% of the budget and a local match would be required for the other 25%. Participation in this project should have no financial burden for the County.
