Consider approving Change Order No. 7 in the amount of $85,174.23 for BUS 79 Drainage, a Road Bond Project in Precinct Four.
Background
During boring operations in both barrels of Line F, Austin Engineer’s subcontractor Bryant & Frey (B&F) encountered old railroad debris buried underneath the tracks. B&F had to cut and remove the ties manually inside both tunnels to continue boring. However, the amount of debris under the tracks caused a significant resistance against the advancing surface of the pipe which ceased the boring process. In order to continue pushing pipe, B&F had to purchase and install tunnel liner plates for the reinforced concrete pipe to be pushed through to complete the railroad crossing. This Change Order includes all costs for removing the debris under the tracks and the purchase & installation of the liner plates with daily grouting for Line F.
