Take appropriate action to authorize completion and acceptance of the US Fish and Wildlife Service Section 6 grant for a conservation easement covering the remainder of Cobb Cavern.

Background

This action supercedes prior court action regarding using TxDOT funds for acquisition of the conservation easement for Cobb Cavern. The easement covers the western 2/3 of the cavern and, added to the existing easement held by the county, constitutes a Karst Fauna Area (KFA) for the northern Williamson County Karst Fauna Region (KFR). This KFA will be the third such preserve area for the Bone Cave harvestman (Texella reyesi) and thereby meets the threshold recovery criteria for this species in the northern Williamson KFR.

The requested motion is to approve acceptance of the Section 6 grant, to authorize acquisition of the conservation easement, and to authorize the County Judge or the court's designee to sign documents to complete this transaction.
