Consider approving Change Order No. 4 in the amount of $41,682.68 for Ronald Reagan Blvd. North Phase III, a Road Bond Project in Precinct Three.

Background

This Change Order provides payment to the Contractor for protecting, excavating and backfilling four karst features discovered during construction. The features were backfilled according to a plan approved by the TCEQ. Once a feature was identified, the contractor performed additional excavation to make the void safe for inspection and maintained safety fencing around the area until the feature could be backfilled. The backfilling plan called for placement of 3” x 5” rock, a concrete cap and clay material above the concrete. This Change Order also adds an area inlet at Sta. 1104+90 with associated concrete apron and grading to improve drainage on the Project. This area inlet was anticipated to be needed with the future construction of the southbound mainlanes in the future median area, but in response to existing field conditions, it was determined that the inlet is needed now with this phase of Reagan.
