To discuss and approve the recognition of the Williamson County Clerk's Vital Statistics Division for reaching the Exemplary designation for the 2008 Five Star Award by the Texas Dept. of State Health Services Vital Statistics Unit. This group of ladies mark the 11th consecutive year of Five Star Awards and only the second time for the exemplary status.
  County Clerk Nancy Rister acknowledged receipt of the 2008 Five Star Award and attributed it to the fulfillment of requirements imposed by the State by Shirley Merkord, Susie Napier and Shelly Cole.

  Motion By: Commissioner Precinct 3 Valerie Covey 
  Second By: Commissioner Precinct 2 Cynthia Long Motion: (The Court has previously voted to preserve it's right to appeal the trial court decision concerning the County Landfill.  It has not voted whether or not to actually appeal.  The County Judge, as the presiding officer of the Court and the Landfill Subcommittee, has determined previously that the appeal should not be pursued and all counsel advised the same.) To ratify the action (of Landfill Subcommittee) and instruct counsel not to appeal.
