Discuss, consider and take appropriate action regarding the engagement of the Gardere law firm (Gardere, Wynne, Sewell, LLP) to represent Williamson County on claims against Volkswagen and Audi related to Volkswagen and Audi emission control systems on diesel engine vehicles in the period 2009 – 2015; approval of the Gardere proposal/engagement on representation; and exemption of these services from the competitive bid/proposal requirements of the County Purchasing Act pursuant to the discretionary exemption for personal or professional services, as set forth under Tex. Loc. Gov’t Code § 262.024(a)(4).
