Agenda Item
Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on the implementation of a County-wide Burn Ban not to exceed 90 days and to authorize the County Judge to lift said ban if conditions improve minimizing the risk of an uncontrolled fire.
Background
Williamson County has been in a drought period following an unually wet Spring, which allowed for significant growth of fine fuels (grasses and small plants) that have since died or become extremely dry. Recent rains have helped to replenish moisture of larger woody plants and perinneal grasses but have limited effect on the dry grasses. Additionally, conditions to battle a blaze becomes difficult when the ground is saturated and fire fighting apparatus are unable operate off of the road or improved pathway.
