It is deemed by Judge McMaster that all individuals placed in court guardianship under County Court at Law #4 are to be visited at least one time per year to ensure that they are receiving proper care. Statutory probate courts are required by statute to have a court visit program. Judge McMaster has developed a practical and cost effective way to achieve this through an affiliation agreement with Concordia University. In the program, graduate level nursing students who enroll, will visit the wards of the state in nursing homes and group home facilities to review the care being provided to the wards and then submit a Court Visitor's Report to County Court at Law #4. The program is beneficial to both parties as it provides a more full educational experience for the nursing students and provides another set of eyes on the ground to help ensure that incapacitated individuals are being cared for properly. Hal Hawes has reviewed and approved the agreement. |
