Discuss and consider approving changes to EMS chargemaster.

Background

During our most recent audit of July 27, 2011, WCEMS identified the need to adjust the mileage rates charged to meet area rates to offset current fuel costs. WCEMS currently charges $12 per loaded mile as set in court on April 2005. Due to increased fuel costs and ambulance maintenace, we would like to increase our mileage charge to $15 per loaded mile. In comparison below, I have listed the current mileage charges for other entities in the area.

Also identified in audit, the request to bundle Emergency Fee ($100) and Dispatch Fee ($95) with the base rate in the chargemaster. Basic Life Support (BLS) Rate ($600) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Rates ($700) are determined by patient care. Currently, these items are charged seperate for each call and we would like to have these charge under one code for billing purposes and not tracked seperately. This would be equal to current combined charges, with the BLS Base Rate ($795), ALS Base Rate ($895) and the fees would no longer be charged separately. The base rates are still comparable to other area EMS rates. Please see the base rates for other entities in the area listed below.
