Consider and take appropriate action regarding park damages from Tropical Storm Hermine.

Background

Williamson County parks suffered damage during Tropical Storm Hermine. Some repairs have been made, but others are still pending funding. The attached list (Tropical Storm Hermine Damage Assessment/Estimate) indicates all damages incurred as a result of the storm. The items in green have been repaired; the items in yellow are still remain to be repaired. The yet to be repaired items total $61,310. This total may be reduced by approximately $12,000 if farm income from the Byers tract is applied to repairs. If we are able to use farm income for some repairs, then the adjusted total request for oustanding repairs would be $49,310.
This total however does not include several items: A section of the Brushy Creek Regional Trail that could be repaired in granite gravel for $ 8,000 or replaced by poured concrete for about $60,000; both of these prices are approximate pending direction. Another item concerns the damaged emergency call boxes along the trail and the philosophy of having such call boxes in light of widespread public use of personal cell phones. Reliability has also been a continuing problem with the emergency phones. The final item is the replacement of the dam at Berry Springs Park. Prices to replace the dam have been suggested by engineers to be as high as $375,000. Staff continues to gather information and data on the dam repairs.
