Discuss, consider and take appropriate action regarding Change Order No. 7 in the amount of -$94,758.39 for RM 620 Safety improvements, a Road Bond Project in Commissioner Pct. 1.
Background
This Change Order provides the final balancing overrun/underrun of contract quantities on the project as a result of addressing field conditions not accounted for in the original plans. This Change Order adds twenty three (23) days to the Contract time for additional work documented on previous Change Orders Nos. 2, 4, and 6. Two additional months of barricades and traffic handling are being added for the overall time extension of sixty two (62) days. This Change Order also adds a Contract item to assess liquidated damages. Substantial Completion was achieved December 4, 2014 (654 days); five (5) days after the November 29, 2014 scheduled completion. The original contract allotted 587 days. The County added 39 days in a previous Change Order and 23 days in this Change Order which brings the total days to 649. Special Provision 000-2332 of the Contract specifies a liquidated damage rate of $1285.00 per day for contracts between $10,000,000 - $20,000,000.
