Discuss and take appropriate action on an Agreement for Professional Services between Beirne, Maynard & Parsons, LLP and Williamson County for legal representation of Williamson County in relation to the Voting Rights Act.

Background

On October 11, 2011, the Williamson County Commissioners Court approved an addendum for the retention of Beirne, Maynard & Parsons, LLP for the same services that are set out in the agreement to be considered. The court also exempted such attorney services from the competitive bid/proposal requirements of the County Purchasing Act pursuant to the discretionary exemption for personal or professional services. In order to set forth the compensation cap approved by the court, this agreement must be considered by the court. If approved, this agreement will replace the addendum that was previously considered.
