Discuss and consider approving revisions to the temporary branch polling places for the November 2, 2010 Local Option Election.

Background

On July 20, 2010, the Court approved the early voting schedule for dates, hours, and polling places for the November 2, 2010 Local Option Election to Legalize being held for registered voters in the City of Georgetown. Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is no longer available to serve as a polling place. The proposed replacement site, Highland Estates Independent Retirement Living, will allow four days instead of two days for early voting. It is a little further from the Cedar Park Library which is a full-time location, thus providing a broader range of territory covered in that area. Since the schedule was approved in July, requests were received to add two temporary branch polling places for voting at the Georgetown ISD High School Annex Cafeteria and the Liberty Hill ISD Head Start Office. In addition to the countywide General Election and Local Option Election, Georgetown ISD, Georgetown City, and Liberty Hill ISD have contracted with the county to provide election services for their respective elections. This request is made for the convenience of the voters in an attempt to better serve the registered voters of the County.
