Discuss and consider approving change in Election Day polling place for Precinct 266.

Background

On August 17, 2010, the Court approved Riviera Springs Clubhouse, 2402 E. Riviera Dr., Cedar Park, as the Election Day polling place for county precinct 266. On or about September 8, 2010, the county experienced a "rain event," and the facility was damaged by rain and flooding. We were advised to check back after October 1 to see if the damage had been repaired and the site available for use on Election Day. As of last week, repairs had not yet been started. An estimate of three weeks was given; however, an assessment had not been made to determine the full extent of the damage. We are, therefore, requesting the site be changed to Cedar Park Randalls, 1400 Cypress Creek Road, Cedar Park. Cedar Park Randalls was the the Election Day polling location for the November 2009 election, 2010 Republican Party and Democratic Party Primary Elections, and 2010 Republican Party Primary Runoff Election. It replaced Riviera Springs Clubhouse in 2009 because R. S. Clubhouse was under renovation. Postcards will be mailed to households of registered voters in Precinct 266 making them aware that Cedar Park Randalls is their Election Day polling location for the November 2, 2010 election. Cedar Park Randalls is also a full-time early voting site for the 11.2.10 elections.
