Discuss and take possible action regarding the implementation of video recording of commissioner's court meetings by county staff and placing the videos on the county's website

Background

The court has been discussing for some time the idea of having the commissioner's court meetings video recorded, indexed and then placed on the county's web site so that citizens can watch the meetings online in order to further expand our efforts to be open, transparent and customer friendly. Many other governmental entities provide this service to their citizens including the cities of Round Rock and Cedar Park, Travis County, Hays County and more. It is also possible that some of the cities in the county will air the recorded meetings each week on their cable channel. Money was set aside for this purpose in the '08-'09 budget. Several service providers who assist with this sort of project have been evaluated and Jay Schade, director of ITS, is ready to move forward if so directed by the court.
