Hear presentation from Adult Protective Services on Williamson County Special Task Unit (STU).

Background

Senate Bill 6 from the 79th Texas Legislture, Regular Session mandated that all counties over 250,000 implement a Special Task Unit to discuss complex cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of the elderly or disabled. The STU was formed to meet the needs of our community, with the concept that sharing of expertise from a variety of disciplines and agencies would allow for more successful outcomes. The STU is created from the fields of law enforcement, the justice system, mental health, medical, banking, clergy and community volunteers. Williamson County's STU was the first in the State to be formed and operational. The first meeting of the Williamson County STU took place on June 16th, 2006.
