On December 10 Williamson County Commissioners testified to before the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regarding a recommendation to include Williamson County as non-attainment in the governor's response to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on revised ground level ozone standards. As a result of that testimony the governor's letter will not include Williamson County in the list of non-attainment areas.
The possibility remains that EPA could reverse the governor's recommendation letter. To bolster the governor's determination staff has been directed to work on a plan to provide enhanced documentation of existing emission reduction measures and to coordinate support from communities and other governmental entities in the county for efforts to educate citizens and to implement measures in line with the Austin/Round Rock MSA 8-Hour Ozone Flex Program.
This draft resolution is designed for the various communities and other governmental entities in the county. |
