Consider authorizing use of the Regional Park and closure of surrounding roads for the the Frost yer Fanny Duathlon Race to be held on January 25, 2009.

Background

This event is being coordinated by Brad Davison of CapTex Tri. The duathlon is being held in conjunction with the Regional Triathlon Award Dinner that will also take place in Williamson County. Mr. Davison has been working with Mike Gleason, Jim Rodgers and Monic Trevino from TxDOT and has received approval from all for the traffic control plan. There will be notification signs by TxDOT throughout the race course. In addition, flyers will be delivered to residences and businesses along the route five days before the event. Sheriff's deputies will be in place at all major intersections to further ensure safety. This is the same traffic plan and course route that was used successfully in previous years. Course maps and additional details have been attached to this agenda item.
